SPOILER The scene where Christian was holding Danni on the couch while she was mourning the loss of her family is significant. Christian wasn't mourning with her or trying to comfort her beyond letting her cry on his lap. In the village/cult place everyone mourns for each others losses as if they were their own, as though they could physically and emotionally experience what everyone else was going through. Danni's experience with family (at least from what was shown) was disconnected, in contrast to the village where everyone is practically in sync. When it was Danni's birthday Pelle was there for her. When Danni saw Christian cheating on her her 'sisters' were there for her. Everyone in the village accepted and loved her unconditionally as family. Having no family left at home, and Christian dead, Danni could finally let go.

Kudos to the two guys who are credited with creating the mythology at the end of the film. My biggest complaint. and many others follow from this pattern of continuity-neglect, let's call it. is the failure to do basic math. By this I mean, if you pay close enough attention to the cultists explanations of Festival times, cycle-times, etc., and you do the math. obviously believing the cultists aren't lying. there is no way the cult would still be in existence, almost certainly extinct not too long after it's first 80-year cycle where Midsommar is supposedly celebrated again and again. If you ever re-watch the film, perhaps you could keep my comment in mind and do the math yourself and correct me if I'm wrong. Numbers play a huge role in the mythology. especially the number 9 (which begs the questions, again, of why the cycle is then 80 years long and not 81 years-long or even 90) and its divisible number, all that is for trivial pursuit type questions but a sign of a lapse in intellectual rigor by Aster, perhaps? The build up of the tension in the film it's completely unavoidable. And it's a slow torture. It doesn't come at you right away. It destroys you slowly.
I've never seen a horror/intense movie with such a realistic script. They really made sure that this story made you feel like that could've been you at that place. Also I've never seen such a realistic drug trip made into a scene.
It's long. And it took its time to make you loose your mind. It's and immediate cult classic.
